A Browser is not a Search Engine

Category: Internet   Tags: , , ,

Amazingly, many people think a browser is a search engine.

Someone interviewed people in New York asking them, “What is a browser?” Only 4 out of 50 people knew. Most people said it was search engine like Google or Yahoo.

Here’s an analogy that might help these people:

  • A browser is like your TV.
  • A search engine is a Tivo or TV Guide.
  • Your internet connection is your Cable Box or Satellite Dish.
  • The internet is all the channels.
